Design & Build Quality

The design and build quality of the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch is its most essential aspects.

Emphasis has been placed on making this smartwatch very stylish; in this, you get to see a lot of curved edges, which provide better comfort and a stylish look.

Amazfit Pop 2 Design & Build Quality

On the side of the smartwatch, you get to see the function button, which provides tactile feedback, it allows you to control the smartwatch.

But I prefer the crown button over the physical function button as it provides a better user experience and allows you to perform more tasks.

You can also see the charging point and sensors on the backside.

Since it comes with a calling function, you will also see the speaker at the back and the mic at the top.

Amazfit has paid a lot of attention to improving the build quality of this smartwatch, and it has used a good quality metallic frame, which makes the total weight of the smartwatch reach around 60 grams, due to which the smartwatch seems a bit heavy.

While its straps are soft, you will not have any skin irritation while wearing the smartwatch, and it also comes with a replaceable mechanism so that you can change them with any other straps.

In short, the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch is better than its rivals in design and build quality; although it is a bit heavy but provides solid build quality.

Display & UI

You will see a beautiful display in the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch.

Amazfit Pop 2 Display

It shows a 1.78-inch HD AMOLED display with a high resolution of 368×448 px.

Due to the AMOLED display, you also get to see the feature of an always-on display, under which the smartwatch keeps two watch faces, analog and digital.

Amazfit Pop 2 Always-On Watch Faces

Let me tell you that you also have permission to set the timer of the always-on display.

A 2.5D curved glass is seen above the Amazfit Pop 2, which helps enhance the smartwatch’s overall design.

You will also see enough brightness in this AMOLED display smartwatch, and if you use it outdoors, there will be no problem accessing the display.

Although the brightness of the always-on display is relatively low in outdoors, which is not easily visible, in such a situation, the wake gesture feature can prove to be a savior.

Its wake gesture feature also works very well; the smartwatch turns on as soon as you twist the wrist.

Let’s now look at the UI of the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch.

Swipe down allows you to access the control panel of the smartwatch with options like DND mode, brightness, setting, Bluetooth connectivity status, etc.

On swiping up, you see the notification panel; here, you will have access to all notifications in the smartwatch.

By swiping left, you can go to the widget section; here, you will find heart rate monitoring, spo2 monitoring, weather forecast, music player, voice assistant, etc.

On the flip side, swiping right allows you to access the voice assistant directly.

At the same time, if you want to go to the menu section of the smartwatch, you have to press the function button.

You can also change this menu style; you have two different menu styles grid view and list view.

In short, the highlight of the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch is its display, which, being AMOLED, is capable of providing much better quality.

At the same time, its UI also looks much better; you will not feel any lag during use.

Watch Faces

I liked the watch face section of the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch because it has more than 150 watch faces.

The exciting thing here is that you will get to see quite a few unique and attractive watch faces, adding to the smartwatch’s beauty.

Amazfit Pop 2 Watch Face Library

To use all these watch faces, you must take the help of the smartwatch companion app.

If you tend to try out a new look every day like me, then you are about to hit the jackpot.

You also get to see some built-in watch faces; if you want to change between them, just long tap on the screen.

Bluetooth Calling

Amazfit Pop 2 is a Bluetooth calling smartwatch that provides you with better quality mic and speaker.

The speaker is loud enough to perform well, even in crowded places.

This smartwatch allows you to reject and accept calls, but you cannot mute the call.

Amazfit Pop 2 Bluetooth-Calling

Also, this smartwatch does not allow you to transfer calls to your smartphone, which I find a bit inconvenient.

In this, you can see the quick access dial, which allows you to make calls directly from the smartwatch.

Unfortunately, the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch doesn’t come with internal storage, so you can’t save contacts, though you can sync them via the app.

In short, the Bluetooth calling function of the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch works pretty well and lets you make hands-free calling.

Sports Modes

Amazfit has focused a lot on sports activities, as the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch offers around 120 sports modes.

You can access these modes through the menu section and analyze their reports directly from the smartwatch itself.

Amazfit Pop 2 Sports Modes

Only a few modes have been given in the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch, and you will need its companion app to sync the rest of the modes.

Amazfit Pop 2 gets an IP68 water rating, allowing you to swim; being water and dust-proof, you can wear it during any workout.

You can also check out these best waterproof smartwatches for more ideas.

In a nutshell, in terms of sports modes, you should not have any complaints with the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch as there are a lot of modes available.

Health Monitoring

There are several sensors provided in the Amazfit Pop 2 that allow you to perform health monitoring.

With the Amazfit Pop 2, you can perform the following health activities:

  • 24/7 Heart rate tracking
  • SpO2 monitoring
  • Sleep quality monitoring
  • Female health care
  • Step counter
  • Calorie counter

Amazfit Pop 2 performs very well in heart rate tracking and spo2 monitoring, in which you also get to see accurate results.

Amazfit Pop 2 Health Monitoring

The smartwatch also supports continuous heart rate monitoring, which you can set via its companion app.

At the same time, it can also perform well in terms of sleep quality monitoring, although it does not support REM tracking, due to which you will see only basic sleep monitoring.

In short, considering the budget, Amazfit Pop 2 provides you with better health monitoring features that also provide accurate results.

App Functionalities

Amazfit Pop 2 App Interface

The Zepp Active app will be required to connect the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch to the phone.

This app is available on Google Play Store and iOS App Store; you can also download it with the help of a QR code given in the setting of the smartwatch.

The app allows you to analyze all health and sports data.

In this app, you also get to see a dedicated watch face center where more than 150 watch faces are available; here, you can also customize watch faces.

This app allows you to customize many different settings related to the Amazfit Pop 2, so you can make the smartwatch your own.

Battery Life & Charging

I was impressed with the battery life of the Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch.

In this, you get to see massive battery life of about 10 days, but keep in mind that this can be achieved only if you do not heavily use features like Bluetooth calling and continuous heart rate.

If you use these features, you will get only about 2 days of battery life.

For more details, you can check out this in-depth guide on how to improve a smartwatch’s battery life to a great extent.

Additionally, the Amazfit Pop 2 does not support fast charging, that’s why it takes around 2 hours to charge.

In short, the Amazfit Pop 2 proves to be an incredible smartwatch in terms of battery life.

Other Features

Amazfit Pop 2 is a feature-packed smartwatch with access to many different features.

This smartwatch supports voice assistants to access Google Assistant or Siri.

Additionally, it gets music controls that come with volume control, a feature that comes in handy during sports activities.

I was a bit disappointed with the camera control feature as it’s only compatible with the companion app; you can’t control your smartphone’s native camera app with it.

This smartwatch also has the find phone feature, which makes it easy to locate your smartphone.

Amazfit Pop 2 doesn’t give you GPS support, but it has in-app GPS support, which uses your phone’s GPS for tracking data

You can also check out these top GPS smartwatches for more ideas.

However, you will lack some basic features like a calculator and games.

Who Should Consider

Now let’s talk about those for whom Amazfit Pop 2 emerges as a great option.

Firstly, this smartwatch is for you if you are looking for a better quality AMOLED display in the budget segment.

Secondly, if you value attractive design and better build quality, you can go for the Amazfit Pop 2.

Third, if you are fascinated by Amazfit smartwatches, go for it.

Who Should Avoid

Now let’s talk about those for whom Amazfit Pop 2 does not provide much value.

First, if the Bluetooth calling feature doesn’t matter to you, you should look at other options; Amazfit GTS 2 Mini would be a good option.

Second, if you want a smartwatch with internal storage, ignore it; you will find its best option in the alternative section of this review.

Bottom Line

There is no doubt that Amazfit Pop 2 is a fantastic smartwatch that comes with great features like an attractive design, HD AMOLED display, Bluetooth calling, voice assistant, and long-lasting battery life.

But despite this, Amazfit Pop 2 lacks many features.

This smartwatch does not offer internal storage, does not allow you to mute and transfer calls, and, most importantly, you do not get to see the support of Zepp OS, which makes all Amazfit smartwatches better than the rest.

So, if you do not feel the need for these things, then Amazfit Pop 2 is a great option.

Amazfit Pop 2 Best Alternatives

So, here are some of the best alternatives of this Amazfit Pop 2 smartwatch.

Fire-Boltt Visionary

The best alternative to the Amazfit Pop 2 is the Fire-Boltt Visionary, one of my all-time favorite smartwatches that offer the most features in its segment.

In Visionary, you get to see internal storage, and it also offers the feature of connecting TWS earbuds, making it better than the rest.

If we talk about the features, Fire-Boltt Visionary proves to be better, whereas, in terms of quality, Amazfit Pop 2 gives equal competition.

Features

  • Internal storage
  • TWS earbuds connectivity
  • Large AMOLED display
  • Over 100 sports modes
  • Voice assistance
